WASHINGTON – Red Line trains have resumed regular service as of 4:45 p.m. and are no longer single-tracking between Takoma and NoMa-Gallaudet.

Metro says riders should expect residual delays however.

WASHINGTON – Red Line trains are single-tracking between Takoma and NoMa-Gallaudet stations due to a disabled train outside the Rhode Island station.

Shortly after noon, Metro says an outbound train “made contact with” service stairs located at the end of the platform. The stairs dislodged and damaged a signal box and metal railing on the side of the track.

Metro says in a news release that the train did not derail and that response personnel are on the scene.

There are no reported injuries to the 63 passengers aboard the train.

Red Line riders can use the Green Line as an alternate route between Fort Totten and Gallery Place stations.

Metro says riders should expect delays on Red Line trains in both directions through rush hour.
