Prince George’s police involved in fatal collision in Bowie

WASHINGTON – Prince George’s County police are investigating a fatal collision that involved a police officer’s vehicle in Bowie early Wednesday morning.

The driver of the other car later died from his injuries.

Police say an on-duty officer was responding to another call around 3:05 a.m., driving on Route 197 toward Route 50, when he collided with the other car in the intersection of Route 197 and London Lane.

The police officer’s car hit the driver’s side of the vehicle.

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit (CARU) is investigating the cause of the collision and working to determine fault.
