Pr. William Co. writes over 1,500 tickets in enforcement campaign

WASHINGTON – Prince William County police issued more than 1,500 tickets during the 2013 “Click It or Ticket” seatbelt enforcement campaign, which ran May 20 through June 2.

The largest number of tickets were issued for speeding, following by reckless driving and seatbelt violations.

Virginia law requires all persons riding in the front seat wear a seatbelt.

Virginia car seat laws also state that:

  • All children under the age of eight must ride in a secured safety seat that’s federally approved.
  • Children between eight and 18 must use a safety seat, booster seat, or seat belt no matter where in the vehicle the child is riding.
  • It is the driver’s responsibility to make sure all children age 18 and under are properly secured.
