Get ready to lose your shoes

Lauren Procopio, WTOP intern

WASHINGTON – Need a reason to kick off your shoes?

You’ll have one on June 1: it’s National Go Barefoot Day.

Participants in National Go Barefoot Day can also show their support for charities like Soles4Souls, a group that’s avid in collecting new or used shoes and clothes for lower-income communities. The global charity strives to put shoes on the feet of 300 million underprivileged children and also has programs in place to create jobs in disadvantage areas.

Another advantage of National Go Barefoot Day is that it also shares the day with National Running Day. It’s perfect for those runners ready to lose their shoes for a day.

So kick your shoes off this Saturday and you can show support for charities like Soles4Souls or just enjoy the feeling of losing your shoes.
