‘Beltway Brawl’ begins as Nats, O’s face off

WASHINGTON – The 2012 season marked the first time since baseball returned to Washington, D.C., in 2005 that the Nationals and the Baltimore Orioles both made the playoffs.

The Nationals and Orioles renew their so-called “Beltway Brawl” this week in a four-game, home-and-home series that starts Monday at Nationals Park. Wednesday’s game will also be at Nats Park. The final two games of the series will be at Camden Yards, the Orioles’ home stadium.

As of Monday, the teams have played 42 times since 2005. The Orioles lead the overall series 23-19. Last season, the Nats beat the Orioles in four out of the six games they played.
