2 dead after boat capsizes

WASHINGTON – Two people are dead today after a 25-foot vessel capsized in the Chesapeake Bay Saturday morning, according to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources police.

The two were pulled out of the water near Point Lookout State Park at around 10 a.m. Four other people were also rescued from the water and taken to the hospital, police say.

A family member of one of the boat’s passengers had called the charter captain to report that her sibling had said the boat was taking on water. Local and state crews also responded.

A Coast Guard spokesman says the passengers include a couple, their teenage son and three friends.
