Three injured after senior driver loses control in D.C.

WASHINGTON – Several people were injured Tuesday afternoon after a woman lost control of her car in Northwest D.C.

The 79-year-old driver jumped a curb and hit several people standing near a bus stop around 12 p.m., police say.

Two adults were taken to the hospital. There is no word on their injuries.

A child with a minor foot injury was also taken to the hospital.

The incident happened on Georgia Avenue and Butternut Street. No other cars were involved.

Metro officials say a bus was at the stop when the car came off the roadway onto the sidewalk. They were not clear if those injured were waiting for the bus.
