A social network for babysitters and parents

WASHINGTON – Need a babysitter on short notice? There’s a new social network for parents and babysitters that may do the trick.

UrbanSitter allows parents to log in through a Facebook account, create a profile and search for local sitters by experience, availability, hourly rate, online video profile and even background checks. In fact, those sitters with background checks have a badge on their profiles.

The Georgetown Patch reports this social network has nearly 100 babysitters in D.C., alone.

The babysitting fee per hour ranges from $10 to $17 and parents have the option of paying for the sitter’s services online.
