WASHINGTON – Designated drivers have helped make roads safer — keeping people from driving drunk for years.

Now, there’s the “designated texter.”

A new campaign urges Florida drivers to give their phones to someone who can respond to text messages while they’re on the road.

A similar program has been launched in Oregon called: “Stop the Texts, Stop the Wrecks.”
