2 arrested for College Park robbery

WASHINGTON – Police have arrested two men for robbing a pair of University of Maryland students early Saturday morning.

Prince George’s County police say Akauh Johann Kassi, 18 of Silver Spring, and Diamante Akeem Sulaiman, 18 of Burtonsville, admitted that they robbed the two students. They are charged with robbery, second degree assault and related charges.

Police say university officers found Kassi and Sulaiman among a group of men near the corner of Pontiac Street and Baltimore Avenue, where the robbery occurred. A stolen cellphone and wallet were found on the ground nearby.

Police say Kassi and Sulaiman assaulted the students before stealing two cellphones and a wallet.

On Feb. 8, two university students told police they were robbed at gunpoint along Lakeland Road in College Park.
