Funeral services Saturday for murdered UMd. student

MALVERN, Pa. (AP) – Funeral services have been set for a University of Maryland senior who was fatally shot by a roommate at their off-campus home in College Park.

Funeral services for 22-year-old Stephen Alex Rane will be held Saturday at the Mauger Givnish Funeral Home in Malvern, Pa. He will be buried at Philadelphia Memorial Park in Frazer.

Police have said Rane died Tuesday after being shot by Dayvon Maurice Green, a graduate student in engineering who was one of Rane’s roommates. Green also shot another roommate, 22-year-old Neal Oa, before killing himself. Oa is recovering.

Green’s family told police that he had been suffering from mental illness for at least a year and had been prescribed medication.
