Asteroid to pass really close to Earth (VIDEO)

WASHINGTON – An asteroid about half the length of a football field will pass very close to Earth on Feb. 15.

It’s called Asteroid 2012 DA-14 and will pass within 17,200 miles of Earth, roughly one-tenth the distance between Earth and moon.

It’s a record-close approach for an object of that size, NASA says.

NASA says there’s no chance the asteroid will hit earth.
