What a horrible way to start the day: walking to your car to find the tires slashed.

The tires were slashed on about 40 cars in the town of North Beach in Southern Maryland sometime between late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.

Lt. Steve Jones with the Calvert County Sheriff’s Department tells WTOP the damaged tires were found on 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th streets.

The Calvert Investigative Team, made up of members from the sheriff’s department and the Maryland State Police, is investigating.

Jones says detectives have a few leads in the case, and they’re trying to determine a motive.
