Prepare for an extremely cold day

WASHINGTON – It’s a day for mittens and scarves.

The weather is bitterly cold outside and not expected to get much warmer Tuesday. Highs will reach 24 to 28 degrees, with winds gusting to 35 mph under sunny skies.

It will feel as though temperatures are in the teens and single digits. Overnight lows will dip to 10 to 16 degrees.

This morning, ABC7 meteorologist Brian van de Graaff said Tuesday’s temperatures certainly will be colder than normal.

The weather won’t be as windy Wednesday, but temperatures will remain sub-freezing.

It will be near 30 on Thursday. Highs will be on the low- to mid-30s Friday, with a wintry mix possible.
