Libraries are the latest trend for luxury hotels

WASHINGTON – Hotels are sparking a new trend – many across the world are building book-filled libraries.

According to a recent article in USA TODAY, some hotels have designed rooms that look like old English pubs with wood-paneled walls, leather chairs and even billiards tables.

In the District, the soon-to-open Capella Luxury Hotel in Georgetown will offer a guests-only library with books, DVDs and a fireplace. The newly revamped Capitol Hill Hotel sports a brand new library off the lobby.

Hotels in London, Dallas, Chicago, New York and Philadelphia are jumping on the book bandwagon.

Some hotels see it as a way of encouraging people to linger and maybe order snacks and drinks.
