Teen suspended from Manassas high school over penicillin pills

WASHINGTON – A Virginia teen has been suspended from school in Manassas for bringing his prescription penicillin to school.

ABC 7 reports the pills were found in freshman Malcom Moore’s gym bag at Osbourn Park High School. He reportedly got them over the summer for an illness and says he forgot the bottle was in the bag.

Malcom was originally suspended for five days, but the suspension has been reduced to two.

Erica Moore, Malcolm’s mother, tells ABC 7 that she thinks the school went too far. Prince William County Public Schools didn’t comment on the case, but did say the drug policy is meant to keep all students safe.
