WASHINGTON – A man was killed Friday morning while crossing Braddock Road in Alexandria, shutting down the road for several hours.

He was headed westbound, crossing the street where there was not a crosswalk when a car struck him around 7 a.m., say Alexandria police.

The car then crashed into a tree.

The driver was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene.
