Car shoppers can save a bundle this time of year

WASHINGTON – Savvy shoppers who need wheels can save thousands this time of year.

Automakers anxious to move inventory are offering cash-back rebates, super financing discounts and special lease deals.

The deals are being offered in part to make sure salespeople get their commissions or bonuses.

Chrysler, Nissan and even BMW are all trying to lure customers, but some of the best bargains are on GM trucks.

Yahoo! Autos reports the deep discounts on Ford trucks and Dodge Ram trucks last month left GM with a lot of unsold Silverados. Now, dealers are slashing their prices by $9,000, $10,000 and even $13,000.

TrueCar estimates the average discount for the rest of the year will be around 8 percent.
