What is the fiscal cliff? Mr. Burns explains

WASHINGTON – If you aren’t exactly clear on what the “fiscal cliff” is, don’t worry. The Simpsons’ Mr. Burns is explaining the matter with a Public Service Announcement.

Surrounded by binders labeled “women,” a book called “Nate Silver Can’t Add” and an askew Romney/Ryan campaign poster, Mr. Burns sits slumped in his chair as Smithers, his assistant, enters the room with tea.

“Any word from Karl Rove?” Burns asks.

“Sir, despite what he’s been telling you, it’s over. Romney lost,” Smithers replies.

Mr. Burns takes this as his cue.

“Damn it,” he says. “I guess it’s time to explain to these good people the upcoming fiscal cliff.”
