Police investigate fatal gang shooting in Lewisdale

WASHINGTON – A 14-year-old Prince George’s County boy was shot and killed early Wednesday morning in what police are describing as a gang-related shooting.

County police say Eliezer Benjamin Reyes, of Lewisdale, and a man, whom police did not identify, were both found suffering from gunshot wounds in the 2200 block of Sheridan Street after 12:15 a.m.

The man was taken to an area hospital in stable condition. Reyes was transported to the hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead, police say.

Investigators believe someone in a vehicle shot at Reyes and the man as the two victims, along with two other people, walked down a street.

Police say two members of that group are known gang members and investigators believe the shooting was gang related.

Police have recovered the car involved in the shooting but are still trying to identify the shooter and a possible motive.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit at 301-772-4925 or Crime Solvers at 1- 866-411-TIPS (8477).
