Photo of NYPD officer’s kind act a hit on Facebook

WASHINGTON – A tourist in Times Square didn’t let a New York police officer get away with his act of kindness.

The Arizona tourist snapped a picture of Officer Lawrence DePrimo, 25, as he gave a barefooted homeless man a pair of new boots on the night of Nov. 14, according to The New York Times.

The picture of DePrimo kneeling with the man appeared on the New York Police Department’s official Facebook page Tuesday, and since has attracted more than 326,000 “likes.”

Jennifer Foster, the tourist who took the picture, told the Times that the instance reminded her of a time that her father, a veteran of the Phoenix police force, who bought food for a homeless man.
