I-66 crash kills two women, injures driver

WASHINGTON – Two women are dead and a man is recovering after their car crashed into a tree early Friday morning, say investigators at Virginia State Police.

The Fairfax Division Accident Reconstruction team is looking into the crash that happened in the westbound lanes of I-66 near the ramp to Route 286 in Fairfax County just after 6 a.m., police say.

The vehicle they were riding in ran off the right side of I-66 before hitting the tree, police say.

The male driver is recovering from minor injuries. Investigators say alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
