Prince George’s police investigate shooting in Laurel

WASHINGTON – Prince George’s police are investigating the death of a man in Laurel.

Police responded to the 11600 block of South Laurel Drive late Tuesday night after reports of a shooting. They found James Cornell, 43, of Montgomery Run Road in Ellicott City, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Cornell was pronounced dead on the scene. Police say an initial investigation suggests that a suspect targeted the location of the shooting, which housed an illegal gambling operation.

Detectives are trying to identify a suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
