WASHINGTON – On Tuesday, Montgomery County, Md., voters decided on issues ranging from police bargaining rights, job opportunities for disabled individuals and alcohol sales in one town.

Voters in Montgomery County approved Question B with 59.5 percent for the ballot question, according to unofficial election results. The measure will reduce some of the bargaining rights of police.

Voters also approved Question A, which establishes job opportunities for disabled individuals and veterans. The ballot question was approved by about 80 percent of voters, according to unofficial results.

Damascus, Md. will no longer be a dry town in Montgomery County. Voters approved a measure by 66.3 percent to repeal a prohibition on commercial beer and wine sales.

In the Montgomery County Board of Education election, incumbent Phil Kauffman won the at-large race. Other winners include Rebecca Smondrowski and Christopher Barclay, the current Board of Education vice president, who has served on the board since 2008.
