WASHINGTON – A Maryland man was killed Monday night when a tree fell on a house as Sandy moved through the D.C. area.

Michael Cox, division chief for the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, says the man was trapped when a tree fell onto the home on Suitt Drive in Pasadena, not far from the Chesapeake Bay.

Firefighters found the man inside when they responded just before 11 p.m. Monday.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Cox says the death is believed to be storm-related and the man died of injuries suffered when the tree hit the house.

The man’s name and age are not available at this time.
