New fee and new feature for Parkmobile users

WASHINGTON – Parkmobile users listen up: You’re about to be charged more.

The benefits to users of Parkmobile are simple. People can pay for parking without running back and forth to feed a meter or digging for change only to come out empty handed.

And the downside?

On Oct. 29, the price for a transaction goes from 32 cents per to 45 cents, a nearly 50 percent rise in price.

It’s unclear whether the price jump will be the last.

A new feature is being introduced to offset the higher cost called Parkmobile Wallet – if users pay more upfront, the fees will be lower. At least 400,000 people in D.C. have already signed up for the service.

More information about the Parkmobile Wallet is available here.
