WASHINGTON – Montgomery County police say officials are making progress in hunting down the man who attacked a 21-year-old jogger Sunday night.

After searching a wooded area near the Capital Crescent Trail where the incident occurred, authorities canvassed a nearby Bethesda neighborhood.

Police say they are developing leads in the case, and are working with other law enforcement agencies that share jurisdiction of the 11-mile trail.

Montgomery County police spokesman Capt. Paul Starks says it’s an active and fluid investigation that is moving forward.

The victim, who is being treated after being hit on the head and sexually assaulted, described her attacker as a white male in his 20’s.
