4 cheap days to travel

WASHINGTON – Although airfare seems sky high these days, there are deals to be had for folks willing to book flights on particular days.

USA Today put together a list of optimum travel days for lowest fares. Here are some of their suggestions:

Thanksgiving Day: While travel before and after turkey day may be exorbitant, those willing to fly on Thanksgiving Day can get a deal. The days to avoid — if possible — are the Wednesday before the holiday and the following Sunday.
Dec. 18: This is the last day before what the airlines’ consider Christmas season. As of Dec. 19, airfare goes up 30 percent, and those higher prices remain for two weeks.
March 20: This is the day to keep in mind if you’re planning a trip to Europe. It’s the first day of spring, and the very next day prices can go up 20 percent.
June 3: If you’re headed to Tokyo, this is the last day you can fly the largest airplane in the world from the West Coast for $852 round-trip.
