WASHINGTON – Although airfare seems sky high these days, there are deals to be had for folks willing to book flights on particular days.
USA Today put together a list of optimum travel days for lowest fares. Here are some of their suggestions:
- Thanksgiving Day: While travel before and after turkey day may be exorbitant, those willing to fly on Thanksgiving Day can get a deal. The days to avoid — if possible — are the Wednesday before the holiday and the following Sunday.
- Dec. 18: This is the last day before what the airlines’ consider Christmas season. As of Dec. 19, airfare goes up 30 percent, and those higher prices remain for two weeks.
- March 20: This is the day to keep in mind if you’re planning a trip to Europe. It’s the first day of spring, and the very next day prices can go up 20 percent.
- June 3: If you’re headed to Tokyo, this is the last day you can fly the largest airplane in the world from the West Coast for $852 round-trip.
