Police investigate fatal Stafford County car accident

UPDATE: Police have identified the man who died as Brandon D. Huffman, 42, of King George County in Virginia.

WASHINGTON, 9/27/2012, 11:37 p.m. – A two-vehicle collision in Stafford County Thursday afternoon has left one man dead and Virginia state police are investigating.

At 4:35 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, Virginia State Police Trooper A.J. Faulkner was called to route 17 near Stafford Lakes Parkway. According to a witness, a 1999 Ford F-350 truck traveling north sped up suddenly, crossing the southbound lanes and colliding head on with a southbound 2003 Ford F-350.

The driver of the 2003 F-350 was taken to Mary Washington Hospital, where he later died.

Police are in the process of notifying his next of kin.

The driver of the 1999 F-350, Frederick C. Frostick III, 23, of Fredericksburg, was treated at Mary Washington Hospital and released.

Frostick is charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Police say speed was a factor, and the collision remains under investigation.
