Italian food boom coming to 14th Street corridor

WASHINGTON – Who doesn’t love some good, old-fashioned comfort food? Now, a trendy D.C. neighborhood will be getting it’s own Italiano flair.

At least eight of the 14 new restaurants coming to the 14th street corridor between U Street and Logan Circle in the next few months will feature Italian cuisine.

The neighborhood blog Borderstan reports that “top Chef” contestant Mike Isabella will be opening a new place there, as will international chain Piola, and the local chain Matchbox.

Many of the new restaurants don’t even have names yet. In many cases, it’s not clear when some of the new restaurants will open either.
