Haqqani network branded terrorists

The Pakistani government has responded to the U.S. decision to declare the Pakistan-based Haqqani network a terror organization. In a statement, a Pakistani government spokesman said the decision “is an internal matter for the United States. It is not our business. The Haqqanis are not Pakistani nationals. We will continue to work with all international partners including the U.S. in combating extremism and terrorism.” Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the decision would trigger sanctions against the group and turn up the heat on Pakistan’s government.
