WASHINGTON – Gas prices in the D.C. area have only gone up one cent on average in the past week – slowing the rapid rise in gas prices over the past several weeks.
The average price for a gallon or regular unleaded of gasoline in the area is now $3.71, according to AAA Mid-Atlantic’s weekly survey.
That’s 16 cents more than they were a year ago. AAA analysts say drivers could pay more for gas this year than any other year.
The nationwide average is now $3.75.
Prices at the end of the summer started to rise by as much as 10 cents a week — during a period where gas prices usually fall. Analysts say drivers could pay more for gas this year than any other year.
