Teen sets record in cell phone throwing competition

WASHINGTON – Between dropped calls, lost texts and screens that crack, the urge to throw cell phones as hard and far as possible is hard to resist.

Finland understands that — and they’ve taken it one step further.

That’s why Savonlinna, a Finnish town, hosts the Mobile Phone Throwing World Championship each year. The town just wrapped up its 12th year of the competition.

This year, a Finnish teenager broke the world record for the distance he threw the phone. Check out the footage below and the full article here.
