Gunman opens fire at new Batman movie in Denver

DENVER, Colorado – There are unconfirmed reports a masked gunman killed 10 people and wounded dozens of others at a showing of new Batman movie “The Dark Knight Rises.”

Police in Aurora, Colo. say there are fatalities but they don’t know how many, according to The Associated Press.

According to KOA Radio, initial police reports said there could be 30 to 40 people injured at a multiplex in a mall in Aurora.

Police responded to reports of gunshots at the Century 16 Movie Theaters at the Aurora Town Center, DenverPost.com reports.

The Associated Press reports one suspect has been arrested.

Witnesses told KOA someone wearing a gas mask opened fire and set off some type of smoke or tear gas bomb.

Police tell CBS News there are bodies inside theater No. 9.

Three patients are in critical condition at Swedish Medical Center.

“We have been advised that we could be receiving up to 20 more patients,” Nicole Williams, spokeswoman for Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colo.

Police are checking the parking lot for possible hidden explosives.
