Not hot pants: Company offers air-conditioned option

WASHINGTON – During a heat wave, you’re probably thinking about how few clothes you can get away with wearing.

But a Japanese company may have just the answer to keep you stylish and cool: air-conditioned pants.

The slacks have built-in battery-powered fans that direct cool streams of air down the legs and toward the waist.

One drawback: The fans tend to inflate the pants, giving you the look of the “Michelin Man.”

Gizmag reports the pants currently sell for about $200, and the fashion brand responsible for the cooling khakis also makes air-conditioned shirts, jackets and a helmet.
