Police officers crack down on aggressive motorcyclists

WASHINGTON – Police officers from three departments are teaming up Saturday afternoon for a special operation on a road that gets lots of weekend traffic.

The goal of Operation Road Runner is to crack down on speeding and aggressive motorcyclists.

“Route 50 is an area of concern for us,” says Clinton Copeland, a corporal with Prince George’s County police.

His department will join Anne Arundel County police and Maryland state police to target a 14-mile stretch of Route 50 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

“Hopefully, us being out there as a presence will be enough for people to maintain and follow the law,” Copeland says. “If you follow the law, you shouldn’t be concerned with what we’re doing out there. That’s really the bottom line.”
