Man arrested in case of puppy crushed with cement block

WASHINGTON – A D.C. man has been arrested in the killing of a sleeping 6-month-old brindle puppy named “King Tut.”

Sean Delontay Branch, 24, was arrested in Clinton, Md. Wednesday on one count of felony animal cruelty.

Branch is suspected of dropping a large 100-pound block of cement on the sleeping dog’s head behind the Circle Seven Express store in the 1200 block of Mount Olivet Road in Northeast on July 3.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled July 31. Branch faces up to five years in jail and a $25,000 fine.
