7-Eleven offers free Slurpees for its birthday

WASHINGTON – If you like Slurpees, head to 7-Eleven Wednesday for a free one.

It’s the convenience store’s birthday, and for what it’s dubbed as 7-Eleven Day, participating stores are giving away free, 7.11-ounce Slurpee drinks between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.

“This year we expect to give away 7 million Slurpee drinks, more than ever before, beating last year’s offer by 2 million,” says Joe DePinto, 7-Eleven president and CEO, in a news release.

Also on this July 11, Six Flags offer a special admission price of $7.11 after 7:11 p.m. You need to show receipt from a 7-Eleven purchase dated July 11, 2012.

The chain started offering free Slurpees on its 75th birthday in 2002 and now does it every year.
