Officials search for person who burned dog in Md.

WASHINGTON – The burning of a Maryland chihuahua has prompted the Humane Society to offer a reward for information about the person who did it.

The society is offering up to $2,500 for information that leads to this person’s identification, arrest and conviction.

On June 20, local police called Prince George’s County Animal Management Division to report an animal on fire on Proxmire Drive in Fort Washington.

The society says when animal control officers arrived, the dog was dead. Officers believed the dog was an older male chihuahua.

The Humane Society says it’s important to find the person responsible for the crime because of the well-documented link between animal cruelty and human violence.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Prince George’s County Animal Management Division at 301-780-7241 or leave an anonymous tip for Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). The case number is A12-048611-1.
