Metro allows water on trains during extreme temps

WASHINGTON – During the extreme heat on Wednesday and Thursday, Metro is lifting its ban on riders’ consuming water while on trains, buses or in stations.

This exception to the “no drinking policy” only applies to water, not all beverages, according to a Metro release.

It remains in effect until system closing on Thursday night.

“Customers are encouraged to use containers that can be tightly secured and to use trash receptacles to dispose of any waste,” the release says.
