The United States and Maryland state flags are to be flown at half staff Wednesday.

Governor Martin O’Malley has ordered the flags to be lowered from sunrise to sunset on Wednesday in memory of Sgt. Julian C. Chase, USMC, of Edgewater, who died on May 28 in Helmand province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

This action is taken under the Protocol for the United States and Maryland State flags. Any questions on the above should be directed to the Office of the Secretary of State.
