Suitland apartment fire to displace residents

WASHINGTON – An early morning fire at a Prince George’s County apartment complex will force some residents to leave their homes.

Prince George’s Fire and EMS officials say the fire at Andrews Ridge Apartment Complex in Suitland, Md., appears to have started in a terrace-level apartment and spread upward. Firefighters learned of the fire at about 6:30 a.m., and it took about 45 minutes to bring the three-alarm blaze under control.

Fire department spokesman Mark Brady estimated residents in about 11 apartments will be displaced. One firefighter also suffered a minor injury that did not require hospitalization.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
