Howard Co. police investigating fatal motorcycle accident

WASHINGTON – The Traffic Enforcement Section of the Howard County Police Department is investigating a fatal single vehicle accident that occurred Sunday, May 20 on westbound MD Route 99.

At around 6:16 p.m. Gary Alan Lynch, 45, of Woodbine, Md. was driving a 2002 Honda CBR 900 motorcycle which left the roadway and struck a sign post.

Lynch was transported to Howard County General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The preliminary investigation shows failure to drive within a single lane and speed as the primary cause of the collision.

Rt.99 was closed to traffic during the collision investigation but reopened at about 7:30 p.m.
