Waldorf boy, 3, dead after being hit by SUV

WASHINGTON – A 3-year-old boy is dead after he was hit by an SUV in his Waldorf neighborhood Tuesday.

The boy’s mother had pulled over to the side of the road in the 10500 block of Sugarberry Street in a new development, after seeing the mail carrier.

As she was on the side of the road, her son unbuckled himself and got out of the car. He walked out into the street and was struck by an SUV coming in the opposite direction.

The boy died at the site of the incident.

The adult, male driver of the other SUV lives in the same neighborhood. He pulled over and stayed on the scene.

No charges have been filed in the incident.
