WASHINGTON – Cellulite. Who doesn’t hate it? Now there’s a new procedure that claims to be a permanent solution.

Cellulaze is costly, but it promises to banish cellulite for good.

The New York Times reports about 100 doctors across the country perform the procedure which involves injecting anesthetic liquid into the skin.

Many doctors say it’s a long-lasting fix because it tackles the structure of cellulite. Other products, like creams, don’t.

The injections have been cleared by the FDA, and an FDA spokeswoman tells the Times there is at least short-term improvement. A study of 10 women also showed improvement after one year.

Two cosmetic surgeons in the D.C. metro area provide the Cellulaze procedure.

Berman Cosmetic Surgery in Sterling, Va. says it charges $4,000 to $5,000 for a first area treatment and $2,500 for additional areas.

Dr. Marwan Khalifeh at D.C. Cosmetics charges $3,500 per area with a $50 consulting fee.

The video below, from Cellulaze, describes how the procedure is done and why it works.
