Outer Loop lanes reopen after fatality

SILVER SPRING, Md. – Three left lanes of the Outer Loop of the Capital Beltway at Colesville Road are now open after a fatal accident early Monday.

All lanes of the Outer Loop after Colesville Road but before Georgia Avenue were closed for four hours, stranding dozens of drivers.

WTOP Traffic reports there are still delays.

Drivers were advised to take the InterCounty Connector after the 2:04 a.m. accident occurred.

The accident involved three cars and a double Sysco tractor trailer. Maryland State Police say three people were taken to the hospital.
