USPS to issue Battle of Antietam stamp

The United State Postal Service will be issuing a stamp commemorating the upcoming 150th anniversary of the Battle of Antietam, according to a press release from the Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The First Class “forever” stamp is scheduled to be released Tuesday along with a stamp commemorating the Civil War Naval Battle of New Orleans.

The image on the Antietam stamp is a reproduction of an 1887 painting depicting the charge of the Iron Bridge during the morning phase of the battle with the Dunker Church in the background.
