WASHINGTON – For fans of “The Boss” who missed him in concert this month, there will be another chance to see him in D.C. later this year. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are set to play Nationals Park in September.
Tickets go on sale for the Friday, Sept. 14 performance on April 27 at 10 a.m. The stop is part of Springsteen’s “Wrecking Ball” tour and tickets range from $103 on the field to $53 for the nose-bleed sections.
He is also playing other ballparks across the country, including Wrigley Field in Chicago and Citizen’s Bank Park in Philly.
Fans of Springsteen know he has a special place in his heart for America’s past-time. He revealed the inspiration for his song, “Glory Days,” came from an old baseball teammate of his, Joe DePugh. Fans know the lyric well, “I had a friend was a big baseball player back in high school…”
Springsteen told the New York Times that the two bumped into each other and had some drinks near his hometown of Freehold, N.J., in 1973. That meeting is what Springsteen told the paper partially inspired his 1984 hit.
