Conde Nast buys ZipList

Publishing giant Conde Nast has acquired Sterling-based ZipList Inc., an online grocery list and recipe organizing site.

Financial details of the acquisition weren’t disclosed.

ZipList allows users to create shopping lists based on recipes, stores or even aisles, and it is integrated with food sites and blogs, including MarthaStewart.com. The technology enables users save recipes to a “recipe box” from other sites either online or through mobile phones.

Conde Nast said ZipList will continue to operate as an independent company, although the technology will be integrated with its other food-centric publications and properties. Conde Nast publications include Bon Appetit.

Conde Nast Magazines is owned by Advance Publications Inc., which also owns American City Business Journals, the parent company of the Washington Business Journal.
