Prince George’s County police officer kills armed man

WASHINGTON – An armed man was shot an killed by a police officer in Landover, Md. on Monday night, according to a press release.

At approximately 7 p.m. an officer was investigating three suspicious individuals near the 8100 block of Sheriff Road when they began to flee on foot.

The officer caught one individual and a confrontation ensued. The officer attempted to subdue the suspect with a taser but the he pulled out the prongs and brandished a handgun.

The officer then fatally shot the suspect. The officer has been placed on routine administrative leave in accordance with departmental policy.
